TCM Pick of the Week: One Foot In Heaven (1941)

This week’s pick is an obscure little film that I absolutely adore. Starring Frederich March as a Methodist minister, One Foot In Heaven is about one family’s struggles as a pastor’s family.
Being a preacher’s kid myself, I can tell you that this movie is spot on. It completely captures what it’s like to live in the fishbowl of ministry and the cost that often has on the pastor’s family. The scene where Frederick March goes to the movies with his son to teach him why they are evil is priceless. He ends up getting sucked into the story and loving it more than his son. Such a great scene.
Filled with humor as well as drama, One Foot In Heaven is a delightful film. I highly recommend it.
