TCM Pick of the Week: No Time For Sergeants

This week’s pick is another look back at Andy Griffith before he became Andy Taylor. Unlike the mean drifter he played in A Face in the Crowd, Andy’s character from No Time For Sergeants is much closer to the Andy we all know and love from his TV show. He plays a hillbilly that’s drafted into the Air Force. Hilarity ensues. It’s a great comedy. Check it out.

No Time For Sergeants (1958) – Friday, January 29 at 8:00pm EST
A hillbilly draftee turns the Air Force upside down.
Cast: Andy Griffith, Myron McCormick, Nick Adams, Murray Hamilton Dir: Mervyn LeRoy BW-119 mins, TV-G

I loved this movie as a kid; haven’t seen it in many, many years!
My favorite Andy Griffith role is the pastor in Angel in My Pocket.

I haven’t seen a great deal of “classic” movies, but I have seen this one & like it a lot. I’ll have to see what else is out there on Netflix. I really enjoyed him as Andy Taylor, and even on the Matlock show. It was also amusing to see him as the villain in “Spy Hard”.
