The Soloist – or How I learned to stop using the word “Bum”

I went to see The Soloist a few weeks ago. It was great. It’s about a homeless guy in LA and a reporter who reached out to him to be his friend. True Story. I’ve seen so many homeless people since I’ve been here. That movie changed the way I view them. God has used it to change my heart toward these people.

I’ve actually had the opportunity to give snacks to a few homeless people. I’m not bragging about myself – I’m just telling you all what God has done in my life. I used to call them all “bums” and ignore them. Now I try to greet them and smile like I would anyone I pass on the street. They’re people. Maybe that movie resonates a little more with me because I’ve been homeless for the last 4 weeks. Thankfully, several kind people up in Santa Clarita have shown me love by allowing me to stay on their couches. The least I can do is give away some Cheetos to a hungry man.

Go see The Soloist.
