4 weeks? No way!
I’m about to finish up my fourth week in LA. Time has flown by. I’ve been extremely busy with meetings. And last week, I started an internship with a production company. I won’t say which one but the producer I work for was one of the producers on a certain movie about a certain band back in the 60’s – one of my favorite movies ever. He also produced a certain movie about a certain serial killer who likes to eat liver with wine and beans.
The way I got the internship is really awesome. My friend and I were going to see a free screening of The Soloist (LA is so cool) and we bumped into a guy who is the Director of Development for this production company. He’s a believer and a heck of a nice guy. He mentioned something about interns. I asked if he needed any more interns and he said yes – one of his current interns was leaving the following week. Such a God thing.
Now when you intern in the movie biz, you don’t get paid. The hours are long. The work is basic stuff – phones, reading scripts, making copies, etc… But this experience has been amazing – and I’ve only worked there 3 days (2 days a week.)
I’ve decided that this is the industry for me. And I want to learn everything I can and do whatever I can do to climb the ladder. I’ve bucked against this for too long. I guess it was a pride thing – I didn’t want to go to LA and do the entry level grunt work. But doing this stuff is the only way to learn how the business runs. I don’t think I’m cut out to live in the development world forever but I’m glad to have this time. My internship will last for 8 weeks – who knows where God will take me then.
Peter Pan was right – To live IS an awfully big adventure.

I’m glad you’re happy out there! It still hasn’t set in that you are gone…probably won’t until my first week back at home with you not around. I wish I could come see you! That would be awesome!
