Post-Production Diary: Race the Sun

The race is on. The late deadline for the Sundance Film Festival is the end of the month. Fortunately, they accept rough cuts. We’ve got 50 minutes of the film finished (rough cut that is). We have about 2 weeks to finish the rest of the movie and get it sent off to Park City, Utah.

In other news, one of our screenwriter friends, Grant Nieporte, has sold a script to Will Smith’s production Company. It’s called Seven Pounds. Variety reported that the film is about to go into production. Check out this link -

It’s a starring vehicle for Will Smith. That’s a pretty cool gig. Congrats to Grant. He deserves it. I’m sure they’ll call him an overnight success but Grant has paid his dues and put in lots of work to get to where he is.

And since I’m jumping around –
Here’s a tip for a fun movie night. Pop a lot of popcorn, buy some Mountain Dew: Code Red, and have a double feature.
I’m thinking of doing this combo soon:
Gone in Sixty Seconds / Con Air
(I like Nicolas Cage action movies. Yeah, his accent in Con Air is terrible but it’s a fun movie.)

And on another note –
Check out The Great Dictator starring Charlie Chaplin. One of the best films I’ve ever seen. I just rented it from Netflix. Amazing film. Go rent it. Chaplin is hilarious in that film.
