Jeremiah survived the Grand Canyon

Howdy folks. Jeremiah here. Thankfully. I just returned from a 10 day trip out to Arizona and Utah. While out there, I did the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and Arches National Park. It was an amazing trip.

We finished shooting Reading Time on Monday, the 18th and I flew out on Thursday, the 21st. I packed between editing sessions. We had to have it done by Saturday. I really appreciate Josh taking it to the end by himself. He even shot some insert stuff on Thursday without me. It looks really good.

Anyway, I thought I’d post and give you some pictures of my trip into the Grand Canyon. For some reason I had the bright idea to go by myself down into the Canyon for three days on one of the hardest trails in the Canyon, the Hermit Trail. I came close to death a few times (no joke) but I made it out.

The trip into the Grand Canyon rates up there as one of the coolest and dumbest things I’ve ever done. Second on the list is camping 19 hours for Star Wars: Episode One tickets. (Both cool from a nerds point of few as well as dumb — the movie wasn’t worth 19 hours. 15 maybe. Hehe.)

Below are some pictures that I took of my descent into madness. (Click to see them bigger.)

At the bottom I met a nice church group from New Mexico. My mother thought I’d be camping next to murderers on the run from the law.

Also in this picture is a a group of Royal Air Force officers on “Holiday” at the Grand Canyon. As a matter of fact, I had a “spot” of tea with them by the banks of the Colorado River.

I’ll post more pictures later on of my time at Monument Valley and Arches National Park. At these places I recreated some famous scenes from a John Ford film and a Steven Spielberg film.
