New Beginning

Today, we begin a new phase in our careers. Josh is officially a full time filmmaker. Whoo hoo. He left his job doing websites. We begin working together all day, every day.
As some of you know, I’ve been doing contract video work in the Atlanta area ever since I graduated college in August of 2004. Coming up on 2 years. Where does the time go? Anyway, we’ve been pursuing “the dream” at night and on weekends while working our day jobs. Now, it’s only the dream.
We’re very excited and doors seem to be opening up. We have a pretty good idea of what our next step is. We’re setting up meetings in the next few weeks to get things rolling. I won’t divulge much but right now we are seeking investors to fund a series of shorts. We’re talking with various forms of retail distribution and have verbal guarantees in place as well as other parties that are very interested. Things are looking up.
The main two goals of this venture are a) Make Money for us and our investors, and b) Continue making films. We’re at that point in our career that we can’t improve unless we have other people’s money.
Our schedule is going to be pretty organized. We’re doing “business” type activities in the mornings. This includes working our network, responding to emails, writing our business plan, etc.. The “creative” activities are in the afternoon. This includes brainstorming, writing shorts, writing features, and generally pacing around the room for hours on end. (If you want to know what this is like, visit our podcast page and click on the “A Day in the Life” episode.)
That’s all I got for now. Just a quick update on what us Daws boys are doing with our time. Some might call us crazy. But I’d rather be crazy and pursuing “the dream” than sane and working a job I hate. (Though crazy may bring with it poor, broke, and hungry. Oh well, at least we have the dream. But I have a feeling that if we work hard and stay focused, things are going to work out for the best.)
May the Force be with you.
